A Joint Baby Bridal Shower
I've mentioned that I have one colleague that is expecting her first baby, and another colleague that is getting married (yes, they are separate people, even though my husband gets confused when I talk about them). Since both of their exciting events are happening in August/September, I was thinking to combine a party for them with our work friends. Our boss agreed, so we are planning an afternoon gathering one weekend.
I saw this fun, modern shower and it became my inspiration. I thought birds would be a good cross over theme, covering both "love birds" and "baby birds." This inspiration party was a baby shower, but has a lot of fun ideas that I think I can use for my Baby/Bridal shower event!
What do you guys think? Any ideas for making these ladies both feel special?

Table Runner Patterns "Some Bunny Loves You"
"Some Bunny Loves You" quilted table runner pattern was originally made for a babies bedroom as a wall hanging. By the way, it looks adorable in a baby's bedroom. However, whenever I pull it out I get comments like, "That would be a great Easter table runner." So whether you want to dress up an Easter party, baby shower party or a babies bedroom this is a hit. These Decorated Easter Eggs are a nice compliment to the bunny theme. Visit us at our BLOG for more ideas.
What you will need:
One small box (or 12 oz.) box rice krispie cereal
Two bags (10.5 oz.) marshmallows
3/4 cup butter
Candy Melt, white chocolate
Shortening
Food Coloring
Sprinkles
Coconut
Egg Carton
Putting The Eggs Together:
1. Over low heat melt the butter and marshmallows in a large heavy pan. Remove from heat and add the rice krispies stirring until evenly coated. Immediately form into egg shapes.
2. Cut egg carton into individual egg cups.
3. Fill microwave safe mugs (one per color) 3/4's full with candy melt and 2 tbsp. shortening. Heat in microwave on low seating for one minute. Stir. Heat an extra 30 seconds if not all the way melted. Add food coloring until you get the color desired.
4. Dip top half of each egg in colored candy melt. Let cool and harden for a few minutes.
5. In the meantime scoop remaining candy melt in squeeze bottles. (Squeeze bottles can be purchased in cake decorating section of local store). Do not let the candy melt harden in the bottles. To keep candy melt at a decorating consistency keep squeeze bottles in a pan of hot water or microwave for 15 seconds. (Be careful, the squeeze bottles will melt.)
6. Have fun decorating your eggs with remaining candy melt, coconut and sprinkles. Kids love to decorate these eggs. Before you let the kids help have the eggs made and dipped.
Spring Baby Shower
You all know about the girl I work with that is getting married, but I haven't mentioned that my other office mate is pregnant with her first! It's so fun to be around so many people with such exciting changes in their lives!
She has worked in design and architecture for many years, so she has a pretty specific aesthetic-- vintage, Brooklyn, and orange (not to mention she ate citrus by the bushel in her first trimester!). She had the idea of an outdoor baby shower with a picnic in Prospect Park in June, so I told her I would put some images together for her.
These would be cute invites and act as a fan at the party as well. Put a map of the park on it, to ensure guests bring it-- and won't get lost!
Blankets and pillows strewn across the ground would be so inviting-- as long as the mommy-to-be can make it up and down.
And string some lanterns up, to add to the festive look.
To make life easier, pre pack a lunch/snack in box with all of the utensils needed.
Then for dessert or favors, pass out bags of cookies or fruit (maybe oranges!).
Add some bubbles, croquet and bocce ball for a fun filled afternoon for both sexes!

Sweet Baby Announcement
I love the sweet way that this couple announced their pregnancy to their parents.
She used fabric markers to write out the new "names" for her parents when they came over for dinner. 
Even sweeter? Her dad was confused, while her mom got it right away. Congrats!
