Peanut Butter Krispies

3/4 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup powdered milk

1 1/2 cups Rice Krispies 

1 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup butter, softened

One 12 oz. bag chocolate chips (milk or semi)

4 oz. white chocolate or almond bark

Nuts, coconut and sprinkles are optional

Mix powdered sugar and powdered milk thoroughly.  Add peanut butter and softened butter.  Stir in Rice Krispies.  With a little powdered sugar on your hands form the rice krispies into walnut size balls.  Place on a cookie sheet and freeze.  In a double boiler melt chocolate.  Insert a wooden skewer into the peanut butter krispies and dip in the chocolate until fully coated.  Dip in bowls full of sprinkles, nuts or coconut.  Place them on wax paper to dry.  Or when the chocolate has dried you can melt the white chocolate and drizzle it over the top of the cookies. You can also use a squeeze bottle to decorate the cookies with the melted white chocolate.  (You can buy squeeze bottles in the wedding section of most local stores)  Also enjoy eating these treats frozen.

Dream Big Baby-A Bedtime Story Baby Shower

A Baby Shower Where Dreams and Wishes Do Come True

I recently co-hosted a baby shower for a friend who adopted a baby boy. This friend’s path leading up to the adoption was anything but easy, so when she and her husband finally brought this little bundle home we all sighed a bit of relief knowing their wish had finally come true. My two co-hosts and I decided to host a shower based on a “wishes come true” theme and we wanted to tie in bedtime stories and sweet dreams as well.

For the invitation, we sent Urbanitystudios' Baby Shower Invitation-Bedtime Story:

On the invitation we asked guests to bring their favorite childhood book to add Jasper's library (more on that later)...

We decided to host a sit-down luncheon. Inspired by  Hostess with the Mostess’s Bedtime Story Theme, we created one long table that looked like a bed.

 
We strung tissue puffs from the ceiling to appear as clouds hanging overhead...

 

 

At each guests' placesetting, we had little boxes of tea packets with honey sticks.  The stickers on the boxes said "Sweet Dreams Little One."
For food we served soup, salad and a "book" cake for dessert.

 

 

We didn't play any games but we did ask each guest during lunch to share the book that they brought and why.  My co-hostess read the book she brought to start off the discussion.  It was called "When wishes come true" and is a story of a little polar bear who gets frustrated when he wishes and his wishes don't come true...His mom tells him that sometimes wishes do come true, as her biggest wish of all happened...she had wished for him.  After the book was read, not a dry eye was in the room.

It was a beautiful shower and a wonderful way to all get together and celebrate our friends newest family member.

Cute As A Button Valentine Treats

When I like something, I stay on it. I can't stop thinking about it. I need more of it. Baker's twine, paper straws, candy molds. Sure Michael's has your standard ones, but with the discovery of Home Cake Decorating Supply Co. last year here in Seattle and their ridiculous amount of candy molds that I can't seem to stop buying.

First it was an airplane mold. Then soccer ball suckers, etc. etc. and then I found a button mold, just like this one at Bake It Pretty. And as with the majority of my purchases, there was not a specific reason/party etc. in mind, a just in case/the need to have it purchase. But, as with the majority of my purchases, the heavens opened and the angels sang when I came across this Valentine's Day printable from 30 Days....and well, you know what came next!I broke out the candy melts and got to work. Note to self, get another mold, doing it one set at a time took forevah! But you get quite a few on one sheet...I printed the labels on sticker paper, broke out a few 4" X 6" cello bags and ta da! Instant cuteness! I've a few events coming up these will be perfect for; way too much work for a classroom full of kids, but definitely perfect for a few special friends. Not Just A Mommy!

Red Poppy Baby Shower

A friend of ours in Los Angeles is pregnant with a little girl, due this spring. She has taken to calling her little one "poppy." So my mother -in-law, who is throwing her a baby shower, came up with the idea of theming the event around this name. How cute! So I put together some ideas to get her started.

I am loving these invites on Etsy-- and they are only $15 for the jpeg. Sure, you have to print them out, but hopefully you can use the design for food labels, etc.

How cute would be it be to make little red poppy pins for everyone to wear? (I also saw some made from cupcake liners).

And this merimekko fabric could make great runners.

I love this poppy dessert table. (This wedding has some cute ideas with the poppy theme! You know I like the pinwheels!)

And these (as poppies, not butterflies, handmade made from red paper,) on a light blue wall (of wrapping paper or tissue paper) could be a great photo wall, or behind the dessert table.

These sweet poppy prints come framed and are only $10-- a quick way to decorate!

And for favors, here are some coasters or tea towels (C and I might be able to make the tea towels with our new yudu!)

I didn't spend a lot of time on food (I know my mother in law is good at that!), but I thought poppy seed muffins would be cute. And this cake is beautiful-- if only the poppies were red!
