The Giving Tree

SaplingAs the fall season of weddings and showers approaches, here is a fresh idea for what to give: trees.  What is a place setting of seldomly used china next to an enormous birch, maple, pine, or redwood tree growing stronger each year while it filters the air and produces oxygen?  At Arbor Day, you can invest in the future of the couple's marriage, as well as giving back to our planet by repopulating the depleted forests. 10 trees for $10.  And for those of you that want something that lasts longer than a set of monogrammed towels, there's a significant return on your investment.  "Over the course of 50 years, a single tree can produce $31,250 of oxygen, provide $62,000 worth of air pollution control, recycle $37,500 worth of water, and control $31,500 worth of soil erosion."

As we face a global climate crisis, it just may be about time to stray from the registry...

I just got back to Illinois from Arizona. I missed the trees and the green more than I thought.

What a wonderful idea for weddings. Something that last and is and gives hope for the future. I visited Life in Style -- great blog! Not to be missed. I've added it to my favorite daily reads!
