Mother's Day Inspirations

Mother's Day is not a day to let slip through the cracks. I have one of those mothers who is happy just to get a nice card. A simply lovely and humble woman, I like to go all the way for Mother's day to show her how truly special she is. The special women in your life deserve recognition so here are a few ways to make the day special for Mom.

1. Tea for 2:
A nice, elegant tea party for you and mom or anyone else you want to invite.
Set the table with your finest linen, plates and tea cups. If you don't have anything fitting, try looking in a local antique shop or thrift store. Non matching items are perfect. Whatever you do, make a nice setting with mom's favorite flowers as the centerpiece.
Make or buy some delightful finger sandwiches. Home made baked items would be a nice touch as well.
Set the mood with some nice relaxing music that mom would like. Jazz wouldn't work for my party, it makes mom nervous...
This is a great way to catch up with mom. Keep it light, and relaxing. You can also spend this time telling her what you loved about your childhood or have her tell some funny stories about being your mom.

2. Locket of Love:
Splurge on a beautiful locket for mom this Mother's Day. Fill the locket with images of you and your siblings. I've done this one. Let me tell you, a huge hit!

3. Picnic in the Park:
This one is a lot like Tea for 2, just a mobile version. Pasadena California has a wonderful Arboretum, full of beautiful gardens which are open to the public. A setting such as this is a perfect location to plop a blanket, enjoy some snacks and then take a walk with Mom.

4. Cooking Class:
Nothing says bonding with mom more than time spent in the kitchen. Sign the two of you up for a cooking class. This is a great way to spend some eventful time together. Don't forget the camera. Cooking classes always end up funny. Don't ask me why, but the few that I have attended are always a good laugh.

Even if your mom is no longer with you, there is sure to be a woman in your life who deserves a Mother's day recognition. Use this day to reconnect with women who provide inspiration and love in your life.
