Super-Size my 4th of July!
Independence Day is one of those grand holidays where it's simply accepted by friends, neighbors and fellow man to go completely over the top, bonkers, extreme with love for country, patriotic buntings and flags, painted stars on faces and blue hair. It's the one time of year when no one, and I mean no one, can pass judgment on your red, white and blue Jello mold. And you, being the hostess with the mostest, wouldn't dream of having it any other way.
An inspiration piece is all you need to get the party started. Independence Day seems like an easy enough theme. But, wait. It's completely overwhelming; there's just too many 4th of July related themes from which to choose...flags, fireworks, Uncle Sam!
Since we've got the green light from society to cross that fine line of going too far with one theme, don't settle. Make patriotism your theme! Wave those flags, sing those patriotic songs at the top of your lungs. Put the 20' blow up Uncle Sam on your front lawn. Mix novelties - flags with pinwheels with kazoos and anything else red, white and blue. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, put your feet up and enjoy that Jello!
