Entertaining Allergies

More and more people are suffering from food allergies these days.  Peanut butter is no longer allowed in some schools due to the fact that so many kids are allergic to nuts.  (What would mom have done?) When it comes to entertaining, allergies can make life challenging.  If you are having a large party, make sure there is plenty of variety available, and consider nut, fish, corn, chocolate, dairy soy and wheat/gluten allergies as these seem to be the most common.  If you are having a small dinner party, usually the afflicted guest(s) will inform you of their allergy when responding to your invitation and then you can attempt to plan a menu around their needs or provide the guest(s) with an alternative.
One very helpful spot is Sure Foods Market.  This "online source for gluten-free, allergen-free food and information" is so easy to shop. Each product is color-coded making it easy for you to determine which foods are right for your given situation.  And, most of all, with their endless assortment of products, Sure Foods makes it possible to serve birthday cake, cookies, and pizza again, even when the guest of honor is allergic to wheat. (We especially LOVE the Namaste Spice Cake.) Let the festivities begin!
